EMG – an attractive employer
We offer you a future
Committed and qualified employees are the highest assets of a company. Therefore, the EMG has set itself the task of steadily improving the working conditions at EMG and thus to offer the employees an attractive job in the long term.
The aim of the EMG TOP.JOB project is to turn EMG into an even more attractive employer, to create a pleasant and motivational working environment for EMG's existing employees and to counteract the anticipated shortage of skilled workers.
Among other things, this means:
- Creating an attractive working environment at EMG
- Inspiring the "best talent" from all age groups for EMG
- Long-term employee retention
- Expansion of professional and social competence across various sectors and positions
- Safeguarding and transferring the existing knowledge and know-how at EMG
- Improving the compatibility between career and family life (work-life balance)
Flexible working hours/home office
We offer our employees flexible working hours with flexitime and core working hours, as well as lifelong working time accounts if required. This allows them, for example, to take an extended leave of absence to care for relatives.
It is also possible for a home office workplace to be set up in individual cases.
EMG is bound to the tariffs of the metal and electrical industry of NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia).
EMG Academy – Continuing education as an opportunity for everyone
The aim of our internal professional development programme, the so-called EMG Academy, is to provide all of our employees with the opportunity to continuously enhance their own skills and level of knowledge.
All of the employees within the EMG group have various opportunities to share in the company's profits.
Company pension scheme
Our company pension scheme provides our employees with the opportunity to actively contribute to their pension scheme, which is additionally supported by the employer.
As a forward-thinking company, EMG supports the health care of its personnel by employing a company doctor, offering massages and holding regular health days.
EMG Think tank
Continuous improvement of the working environment involves utilising the experiences and ideas of our employees and incorporating them into the organisation. To take advantage of these experiences we created the EMG think tank, where employees can submit their suggestions for improvement and participate personally in any potential savings implemented.
Our premises in Wenden boasts a cafeteria which offers a varied and diverse range of healthy food and beverages.
We have had a parent/child office here since 2013, which features a fully equipped office space for mum or dad and a play corner for the next EMG generation. EMG offers this workplace to its employees if there is a sudden change to any childcare plans.
EMG offers its employees the opportunity to work from home or in a part-time capacity on an individual basis. To avoid losing contact during their parental leave, our new parents are still invited to attend company events and they regularly receive our employee magazine "EMG Aktuell" (EMG News).
Certificate "Family-friendly Company"
A family-friendly personnel policy is very important to us. It not only benefits our employees, but also our company itself.
At the beginning of 2018, all of the above-mentioned measures and offers for a better work-life balance implemented within the framework of the TOP. JOB project at EMG led to the official certification as a "family-friendly company" for EMG.
The Competence Center Women and Profession, or Competentia for short, has been organising this certification annually since 2017. The certification process includes several milestones, including extensive check-ups during a personal on-site assessment and interviews with several employees at the participating companies. Finally, a regional jury decides on the allocation of the certificates.
The successful certification is also the subject of the WDR local time report from February 6,2018 (only in German):
Work through an entire working day and take a short coffee break at the most? Although many employees and colleagues disagree: this is not enough, it is not healthy and it is not productive. Those who do not take a break encourage mistakes and are exposed to a high level of stress.
Taking a break - but how does that actually work?
A break is defined as a work interruption with recreational value. But since everyone ticks differently, everyone feels relaxation in different ways. Those who work a lot have to recover during the day. The body needs breaks to recover from the stress of everyday working life and to remain efficient.
So how should one really take a break?
The communal lunch with colleagues, a walk in the fresh air - possibilities that everyone knows. At EMG there is now a new way to use your breaks. In the EMG relaxation room you have the opportunity to switch off and recharge your batteries in a cosy atmosphere. For example with meditation, progressive muscle relaxation or simply a short nap, or in modern terms "Power-nap".
