Appliation tips

Start into working life

By submitting your application you are starting a new phase in your life. You will now be competing with numerous other applicants who are also interested in an apprenticeship. The format, content and the timing of your application are very important, because:

You only get one chance to make a first impression!

If you want to stand out from the crowd and attract attention with your application, you will need to invest some time when completing it. Typed templates appear impersonal and get lost in the crowd. This is why it is very important for you to carefully consider exactly why you have opted for the specific apprenticeship programme beforehand. Do your strengths fulfil the requirements of the job description? What are the tasks and activities involved with your desired profession and do they fit in with your skills and interests? Use your application letter to state why you feel you are the suitable candidate for our apprenticeship position and why you want to start your apprenticeship at EMG.

Should you submit your application by post or e-mail?

Whether you want to apply by post or e-mail is completely up to you. When applying by e-mail, however, you should ensure you combine all of your documents into one file (preferably in PDF format). Please make sure the file does not exceed 4 to 5 MB.

A successful application includes:

  • Letter of application
Your full address, make sure you specify the correct contact person and title, include details of the apprenticeship and the start of the apprenticeship period (apprenticeship courses at EMG start on 01.09.), include your source of reference (advertisement from which particular newspaper, career fair, online source, etc.), do not repeat the text used for the advert but refer to the requirements of the job description and your strengths and interests.
  • CV (complete documentation of your life to date)
Make sure you include all of your details (name, address, date and place of birth), parents and siblings, professional experience, school career, any special qualifications such as language and computer skills, as well as hobbies, voluntary activities or club memberships.
  • Application photo
If possible, include a photo taken by a photographer; do not use photos from a booth, private vacation photos or full body photos. Tell the photographer what you want to apply for. Please also ensure you use photo glue instead of any photo corners or paper clips.
  • Application file
Neat copy of your last two school certificates, certificates of internships or other further education, documentation regarding vacation work or secondary jobs, any possible samples of your work, cover sheet.

What happens after submitting the application?

First of all, we will let you know that we have received your application. You will now need to have some patience until the application deadline. If your application is of the quality we are looking for, you will be invited to sit an aptitude test. After evaluating the tests, we will invite you to attend an interview. Following this, we will decide on which applicants we are going to appoint as new EMG apprentices. The apprenticeship will start in the September of the following year. You will receive your apprenticeship contract immediately after receiving confirmation by telephone.
