EMG Innovation Talks opening
Mr. van Es opens the series of lectures.

The EMG Innovation Talks took place on 10th and 11th October for the first time. More than 50 guests from 9 countries and more than 30 companies followed our invitation. The aim of the event was to give experts from the steel industry the chance to share their experiences they have made up to now as well as to give insight into the use of Quality Assurance Systems for the production of flat steel.

To launch the event, Mr. Machiel van Es, working as Manager Product Service at Corus Strip Products in Ijmuiden, Netherlands and one of the most well-known responsibilities for Quality Assurance in the world of steel, hold a presentation about Total Production Control. Afterwards, Mr. Günter Schwanke, leader of the team Technology Cold Rolling Mill of ThyssenKrupp Technology IDS, gave a lecture.

Talks and exchange of experience

Presentations of EMG specialists about current developments of our systems and a visit of our test laboratory with a demonstration of our eMASS-system rounded off the first day at EMG.

During the evening event at the "Wendener Hütte", a historical furnace and iron production site, and numerous breaks between the different presentations made it possible for all participants to exchange their experiences and know-how.

The production processes of EMG could be visited during guided factory tours.

The second day started with a detailed guided tour through the EMG works in small groups.

Afterwards, Peter Schwander, responsible for the development of the Quality Management System at BREGAL GmbH in Bremen (ArcelorMittal), opened the customers' lectures of the second day. Following, Dr. Wilhelm Dürr, Senior Manager of the Development Department of ThyssenKrupp Steel AG, spoke about his experiences with IMPOC.

The customers' presentations were flanked by contributions of the EMG experts on the second day, as well. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Werner Düchting, Professor emeritus of the University of Siegen, moderated the whole event. The success of both days exceeded the expectations of all participants. We think that it isn't possible to summarize the EMG Innovation Talks 2007 better than one of the numerous positive feedbacks of our guests: "A very worthwhile event."
