Cutting machine operators work in fields of industry and the trades which produce components by using machining processes. Typical operation areas are turning machine systems, milling machine systems, automatic lathe systems and grinding machine systems for individual and series production.

  • evaluate and analyze production orders regarding technical feasibility, select sources of information and technical documents in order to conduct production
  • select order-related manufacturing systems
  • plan production processes, create, optimize and set up programs for numerically controlled production systems
  • use data sheets, descriptions, operating manuals and other information typical for their profession, including English language based materials
  • set up the workstation and organize workflows taking economic requirements and deadlines into consideration
  • produce parts according to qualitative specifications using machining production processes, and monitor the production process
  • apply quality management systems, document and evaluate work results and testing results, as well as develop methods to optimize products and their production
  • monitor and test safety equipment, maintain and inspect production systems
  • work in teams, instruct others in the operation of production systems, align their tasks with up- and downstream divisions, and pay attention to customers´ requirements
