Strip centre guiding for steel strips
The EVM receiver adjusting device is used in non-contact strip centre guidance for steel strips. Changes in the strip edge position are detected optically with the highest reliability and robust protection against external interference.
For strip centre guidance, HF alternating light receivers on the drive and on the operator side are automatically adjusted by means of a receiver adjusting device EVM to suit the strip width. For this purpose, an aluminium base plate is provided with a guide rail with two adjustable slides.
The adjustable slide accommodates a measuring receiver and a reference receiver which are fastened by means of angle brackets and which allow easily adjusted, precise direction towards the 1000 Hz light source(s). The adjustable slides are driven by a DC gear motor, via a toothed belt. The control electronics including a scaled regulating distance signal and electronic end-of-travel limitation is installed in the connection box which is laterally fastened to the adjusting device. The HF alternating light receivers are wired to this box through an integral cable conduit. In order to ensure accurate measurement of the strip width, or when the strip width exceeds 2100 mm and also when remote adjustment of the strip centre position needs to be greater than ±8 mm, two EVK receiver adjusting devices for edges are required!
