Inductive strip centre sensing system IMR

Inductive strip position measurement in wet sections
In aggressive and humid environments, such as in strip pickling or cleaning lines with pickling agent temperatures of up to 80 °C the IMR inductive strip centre measuring system detects the strip centre position for metal strips and foils with an accuracy of ±5 mm. The equipment is totally maintenance free and suitable for use in the presence of acidic fumes and liquids.
With IMR four encapsulated measuring coils of tubular design are inserted into non-metallic sheathing tubes which are resistant to the agent, and which are led across the treatment tank above and below the strip. The sensor system is thus best protected against environmental influences. Two coils in tubes act as the transmitting coils and the other two units are the receiving coils. Because of the inductive measurement method, typical environmental conditions such as fumes, acids, or plastic materials in the immediate vicinity have no effect on the measurement result.
There are four coil types to choose from, which cover the strip widths occurring in practice. Depending on the selected centre position sensors, the system may be used for sensing centre deviations on strip having a width of 550, 950 or 1550 mm.
