Light unit compact LIC

Non-contact edge position detection
The LIC light emitter is found in analysis systems such as the EVK or EVM receiver adjusting devices for non-contact edge position detection of non-transparent materials. Precise control of light intensity and fault monitoring are realized using the integrated electronics.
Further to the well proven HF-alternating light receiver LIH, the compact light unit LIC has been developed. The most important differences to the LIH light units are the complete integration of the control electronics into the lamp housing as well as the use of standard industrial fluorescent tubes.
The fluorescent lamp is pulsed with 1000 Hz from the electronics that is integrated in the LIC light unit. The emitted light intensity is sensed by a photocell and controlled to a steady value by the electronics. Variations in tension and temperature as well as an ageing of the fluorescent tube do not have any effect neither on the light intensity of the light unit nor on the measuring signal. When exceeding the control range or in case of a possible failure of the light source, the control system is immediately locked by the monitoring logic of the strip position controller and a failure is signalled. For ease of maintenance the fluorescent tube is mounted on a withdrawable unit with lateral guide. A stable industrial plug ensures a fast and convenient operation.
