Strip edge and strip centre guiding systems for strip width measuring as well as strip centering

For non-contact strip edge and strip centre guidance (two EVKs required) the EVK receiver adjusting device monitors the edge position in continuous strip production lines. The EVK in combination with an optional SSI stroke transducer is suitable even for high precision applications, such as strip width measurement or strip centering, for example. The intelligent application of the optical measuring principle provides reliable and robust operation in harsh manufacturing environment.

For strip edge guidance, the HF alternating light receivers are moved either by means of an EVK receiver adjusting device to an externally defined reference position or automatically to the strip edge. For this purpose, an aluminium base plate is provided with a guide rail with an adjustable slide.

The adjustable slide accommodates a measuring and a reference receiver which are fastened by means of angle brackets and which allow easily adjusted, precise direction towards the 1000 Hz light source. The adjustable slide is driven by a DC gear motor, via a toothed belt. The control electronics including scaled regulating distance signal and electronic end-of-travel limitation are installed in the connection box which is laterally fastened to the adjusting device. The HF alternating light receivers are wired to this box through an integral cable conduit.
